How to charter a yacht?
The best way to charter a yacht is to work with a trusted broker like those at Cosmos who will listen to your requirements and then find the perfect yacht in your dream destination.
Just make sure to follow the steps below:
- Choose a destination, have a look at the destinations page and let us know where you want to go.
- Look at the yachts on and choose which ones suit your criteria
- How many people will be on board and what do you want to do.
- Your broker will provide you with a selection of yachts meeting your requirements and guide you through the selection process
- Decide on your final yacht, sign the MYBA Charter Agreement and finalize your booking
- Relax while your broker contacts the Captain to create the perfect itinerary for you
Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA)
The Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) is due at the time of the final charter payment. Under MYBA Terms, this sum is usually equivalent to 25% of the total charter fee, in some cases it might be 30%. The APA covers the operating expenses of a charter such as, fuel, provisions, drinks, port fees, and ad hoc incidentals. The APA will be given to the captain before the start of the charter. He will ensure that the yacht is fully fueled and provisioned when you embark. Any APA not used will be returned to you at the end of the charter as you leave. On the other hand, if expenses exceed the APA (maybe excessive cruising so high fuel costs, requests of rare liquors, etc.) you will be expected to reimburse the yacht as you leave the charter. This is rare but you need to be aware of this possible expense.
